Myth #1: Hardwood is expensive. Answer: Not if you look at the big picture. The flooring will last for decades and, in fact, often looks better with age. Unless there’s structural damage, a refinishing will do the trick for bringing it back to luster, no replacement is probably needed for this installation. You’d like that, wouldn’t you, Jackson?
Myth #2: It’s cold. Let’s face it, we all love to step out of bed and land on a soft, fluffy surface, but that doesn’t mean hardwood is cold. The flooring is just different, you know, hard vs. soft surface. Actually, this kind of installation happens to be effective at holding warmth in, because wood will soak up heat and then let it flow.
And that might save you a little money on heating bills.
Myth #3: It’s noisy. No, not really. First, it depends upon the amount of furniture in the room. I was recently in a dining room with wood floors and didn’t hear a sound. Second, are there curtains or upholstery? Fabrics really soak up noise, so that would absorb any sound. Third, speaking of textiles, there’s an easy remedy: Area rugs. (Coordinate them to bring out the wood undertones and wow!)
Myth #4: You can never have hardwood in your kitchen. If your kitchen isn’t prone to leaks, as long as you strategically place a couple of rugs or mats in front of the sink or dishwasher, you’ll be okay with this flooring. There’s another easy solution: An installation of a completely waterproof alternative that’s an amazingly realistic mimic of wood, such luxury vinyl plank or waterproof flooring, WPC, cut into plank form.
